explain discrimiation as it exists in the indian society?
Answers
It is the actual behaviour of those who treat others differently depending on their social situation, to pigeon-hole someone socially, such that some benefits and resources do not reach to particular group or section of people thus another particular group benefits more and can have larger share of benefits."
Now every country in world defines social discrimination differently. US has discrimination problem in the name of Racism. Now Racism means an belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person's social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics.
India has several discrimination problem as casteism, racism, gender discrimination, religious discrimination etc.
The casteism shortly defines as discrimination on the grounds of caste (as per Google). Now we already know what are castes and how much hatred is being spilt in the name of reservation without knowing about the motto behind it. The most vulnerable groups SC and ST still suffers from social discrimination so much that even today after 68 years of Independence uppercaste denies their home on lease to Dalit family or many temples didn't still allow lower caste to enter. Every year there is an near to 20% in atrocities against dalit and tribals. But interesting thing is to see that many atrocities are done by OBC people towards dalit than uppercaste people. In 2013 Gujarat reported around 3000 cases of atrocities and 42% of violence oppression were done by Neo-Kshatriya group whom are enlisted as OBC in state. Brahmins only accounted for 6%.
