Displacement Reaction::

The type of chemical reaction in which a more active element displaces a less active element from its salt solution.

Example-

Zn + H2SO4 --> ZnSO4 + H2

Here, A more active metal Zinc displaces a less active element Hydrogen from its solution.

Double Displacement Reaction::

The type of chemical reaction wherein two compounds in aqueous state react with each other and form two new compounds by mutual exchange of radicals.

Example-

NaCl + AgSO4 --> AgCl + NaSO4
