<font colour="black"><b>A displacement reaction is a type of reaction where part of one reactant is replaced by another reactant. A displacement reaction is also known as a replacement reaction or a metathesis reaction.

Example : Reaction of iron nails with copper sulphate solution. A displacement reaction is a reaction in which an atom, or a group of atoms, present in a molecule is displaced by another atom. For example, iron when added to a solution of copper sulphate displaces copper metal.
