Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from its compound. Both metals and non-metals take part in displacement reactions
Example : Reaction of iron nails with copper sulphate solution

hey there^-^
____________
Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element.
____________
____________
For example_
Copper sulphate(CuSO4)+Iron(Fe) --> Iron sulphate(FeSO4)
When an iron nail kept in The blue solution(CopperSulphate) for a while, the colour of the solution changes into green(iron sulphate) and a brownish powdery mass aquires in the nail.
This brownish substance is the Copper.
____________

Thus, Iron displaced Copper from its (salt) solution and Iron sulphate(FeSO4) is formed..
