Explanation:

Aim – To observe a displacement reaction.

Materials required – Copper sulphate, test tubes, some iron nails.

Procedure – Take solution of copper sulphate (CuSO4) in a test tube. Put some iron nails into this solution.

Observation – After sometime the colour of the solution changes into green and there is reddish brown deposition on the nails.

Fe + CuSO4 – Cu + FeSO4

Iron + Copper Sulphate (Blue) – Copper + Ferrous Sulphate

Conclusion – Thus, we conclude that Iron being more reactive displaced copper from copper sulphate solution and forms ferrous sulphate.
