Explain double displacement reaction with examples!!!

The reaction in which there is an exchange of ions between the reactants are called double displacement reactions. Eg Na2SO4 + BaCl2 gives BaSO4 + 2NaCl In this reaction , exchange of ions take place. Na takes chloride ion from BaCl2 solution while Barium takes sulphate ion from Na2SO4 solution and produce white precipitate of BaSO4 and NaCl solution.

⭐. Take a pinch of lead nitrate and dissolve in 5.0 ml of distilled water in a test tube.

⭐. Take a pinch of potassium iodide in a test tube and dissolve in distilled water.

⭐. Mix lead nitrate solution with potassiun iodide solution.

⭐. A yellow coloured substance which is insoluble in water is formed as preciptate.The precipitate is lead iodide.

pb(No3)2(aq)+ 2kI -----------> PbI 2(s) + 2KNO 3(aq).

⭐. This is double displacement reaction.
