Answer:

In angiosperms, double fertilisation refers to the fusion of one sperm cell with an egg (syngamy), and another sperm cell with the polar nuclei to yield a triploid endosperm (triple fusion). Double fertilisation involves two processes, triple fusion and syngamy

Answer:

after discharge of two male gametes from the pollen tube one nucleus fuses with the egg cell to produce the zygote or oospore this is typical fertilization hence described as syngamy.

the second male gametes or nucleus fuses with the secondary nucleus to form endosperm nucleus . since the secondary nucleus is already a product of fusion of two polar nuclei prior to fertilization this is called triple fusion. thus, the male gametes participate in two fertilizations. hence, the process is called double fertilization.
