Hi.

here is your answer.

double \: fertilization \:

" The process of fusion of male gametes with the female gametes to form the diploid zygote. (2n ) is known as double fertilization."

The fusion of 1 male gametes with egg and that of another male gametes with Secondary nucleus is known as double fertilization.

All angiosperm are characterised by a unique process called DOUBLE FERTILIZATION.

After pollination pollen grains germinates on the stigma to forms a pollen tube. Pollen tube grows down towards the ovules in ovary. It carries 2 non motile male gametes. thin citoplasm and a degenarating tube nucleus with it.

Growth of the pollen tube occurs at the tip where the concentration of citoplasm is more.

On reaching the ovary a pollen tube mostly enter in an ovule of micropgyle .

Irrespective of the place of entry into the ovules a pollen tube always enters the embryo sac. near the egg apparatus.

The tip of pollen tube absorbed water form one of the synegrids and burst open to release the 2 male gametes

Double fertilization involves two steps :-

1. Syngamy

2. Triple fusion

Syngamy ⇒ During the fertilization in flowering plants pollen tube releases two male gametes & it moves towards the egg cell and fuses with the nucleus to form diploid zygote.

Triple fusion ⇒ The other male gametes move towards the two polar nuclei located in the central cell & fuses with it & produce triploid primary endosperm nucleus.

This is called double fertilization.
