An area drained by a single river is called its drainage basin or catchment area. It includes the various streams, tributaries and sub tributaries that join to create a network of the river.

There are mainly 10 different types of Drainage Pattern:

drainage patterns are the paters formed by the rivers and its tributaries while glowing from slope. These patters are formed due to the underline rock formation ,slope and climate. Water Divide is an elevated area which divides two river basin.Example - Ambala Highland.
