Explain each step involved when applying the equation of Gauss’s law of electrostatics to determine the electric field.

Gauss' law states that number of electric lines of force coming out of a hypothetical closed surface (like a sphere, cube etc), also known as  flux, is equal to ratio of magnitude of charge inside the surface and the electrical permittivity of the medium.

Also electric flux is equal to \int\limits^A_0 {E} \, dA

So if you need to find electric field at a point, put it in the equation:

\int\limits^._. {E} \, dA = \frac{q}b\\

Where b is the electrical permittivity of medium.
