An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The reverse of this is the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy and is done by an electric generator, which has much in common with a motor.

A generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, while a motor does the opposite - it converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Both devices work because of electromagnetic induction, which is when a voltage is induced by a changing magnetic field.

I hope you understand

Electric motor :- a motor is a device which converts electrical energy into mechanical energy.
A motor works on the principle that when a rectangular coil is placed in a magnetic field and current passed through it, a force act on the coil which rotates it continues..
