explain electrical considering of a motor with its working.
Answers
➡️Electric motors are electromechanical machines that convert electric energy into mechanical energy.
➡️ Despite differences in size and type, all electric motors work in much the same way: an electric current flowing through a wire coil in a magnetic field creates a force that rotates the coil, thus creating torque.
Answer:
There are two types of motor:
- DC Motor (Direct current)
- AC Motor (Alternating current)
1). DC Motor (Direct current)
- It is a device which convert electrical energy into mechanical energy.
Construction:
DC motor consist of 4 major parts:
1). Field magnet : It is a strong permanent magnet.
2). Rectangular coil : Insulated copper wire wound on a soft iron ore it behave like a rectangular coil.
3). Split rings : R1 and R2 are two metallic semi-circular rings. It is connected to end of the rectangular coil.
4). Carbon brushes : In external circuit two brushes are connected which provide contact to metallic rings.
Working of DC motor:
- When electric current passes through the rectangular coil then AB and CD side experience a force in presence of magnetic field.
- According to Fleming left hand thumb rule AB side experience a force in outward direction and CD side experience a force in inward direction.
- Due to equal and opposite force coil will be rotate and electric energy convert into mechanical energy.
Uses of DC motor :
- It is used in toys, electric fan, water pumping motor and electric circuits, etc.
2). AC Motor (Alternating current)
- It is device which convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.
Construction:
AC motor consist of 4 major parts:
1). Field magnet : It is a strong permanent magnet.
2). Rectangular coil : Insulated copper wire wound on a soft iron core it behave like a rectangular coil.
3). Slip rings : It is metallic circular ring which provide external contact to brushes.
4). Brushes : In external circuit two brushes are connect which provide contact to metallic rings.
Working of AC motor:
- Initially shaft is rotate via turbine or any external source.
- When coil rotate in uniform magnetic field it produced an induced current.
- According to Fleming's left hand thumb rule CD side experience a force outward and side AB experience a force inward direction. Hence, coil will rotate and mechanical energy convert into electrical energy.
