Electroplating is a process that uses electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a thin coherent metal coating on an electrode

➡here's your answer :-

〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰

➡definition :-
⚫electroplating is the process of deposition of a coating of superior metal on the surface of inferior metal.

⚫eg :- electroplating an iron object ( such as iron bell) with nickel or silver.

➡process :-

⚫the metal whose coating is to be done on inferior metal , its salt solution is used ....
⚫for example :- in case of electroplating an iron object with nickel... nickel sulphate solution is used.

⚫the object which is to be electroplated ( inferior metal ) is made the cathode.

⚫the metal which has to be electroplated on inferior metal is made anode.

⚫the ions gradually move from anode ( superior metal ) in the salt solution and are discharged at the cathode ( ie on the surface of inferior metal).

⚫in this way , the inferior metal gets electroplated with the superior metal and the process is completed.

➡uses :-

⚫this method is widely used to make inferior metals look more attractive, hence costly and also prevent rusting to some extent.
