In the process of electroplating of copper on a metallic spoon, the iron spoon is made the cathode. A thin sheet of pure copper is made the anode. When electricity is passedthrough the solution, Cu2+ ions move towards the cathode and get reduced to copper metal.

ELECTROPLANTING
The process of depositing a thin layer of metal, on another, is called electroplating.
The process uses an electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations to develop a metal coating on the electrode & the deposited metal becomes part of the existing product with the plating.
