Answer:

I can help you with a simple electrolysis imaginenable. Electrolysis of water.

Explanation:

Water is compound formed by bondings between Hydrogen and Oxygen. To electrolyse this compound we have to ensure some free ions of hydrogens and oxygens flowing around in the solution as a solution with only ions can conduct electricity. But pure water at room temperature does not have any free ions for required for conduction and hence we make it conducting by adding acids like SULPHURIC ACID to form ions of water molecules which will also result in ions of acids which is not necessary for discussion. When we immerse Cathode and Anode in this impure water solution, interesting things happen within. Cations in water molecule - hydrogen (positive ions/Cations) are attracted towards the negative node (CATHODE) where they accept a electron and become  a hydrogen atom. Later this hydrogen atom combines with another one to be stable forming HYDROGEN GAS, while at the anode oxygen  (negative ions/ Anions) loses its extra electrons at the positive node (Anode) to become oxygen atom and then combines with another oxygen atom to stabilise.

as there is 2 hydrogens per water molecule hydrogen is more in quantity and found at Cathode, while oxygen is only one atom per molecule and hence it is formed less than hydrogen content at the anode. Hydrogen and Oxygen is formed in the ratio 2:1 in quantity.
