Plant embryogenesis is a process that occurs after the fertilization of an ovule to produce a fully developed plant embryo.

•Embryogenesis occurs as a result of single, or double fertilization, of the ovule, giving rise to two distinct structures: the plant embryo and the endosperm which go on to develop into a seed.

•The zygote undergoes repeated cell division through mitosis. The divisions help in the growth of an embryo. Cells undergo differentiation attaining specific shape, size and function. Cell differentiation occurs at specific location resulting in the production of different tissue, organs and organ system.
