Esterification is the process of preparation of ester by the chemical reaction between alcohol and carboxylic acid

Example

Ethanol reacts with ethanoic acid in the presence of concentrated acid such as sulphuric acid to form ethyl ethanoate

\rm C_{2}H_{5}OH + CH_{3}COOH  => CH_{3}COOC_{2}H{5}
