While the national assembly was busy in drafting the constitution the rest of the France was seethed in turmoil. A severe winter meant a bad harvest. The prices of bread rose and the bakers used to exploit tye situations and hoard the supplies. After standing in hours the angry women used to storm into the shops.
At the same time the king odderd the troops to move into Paris..In the morning of 14th July 1789 approx. 7000 men and women gathered in the town hall and formed people's militia. They were off the fear that the troops would soon open fire on the citizens.
They stormed in to the fort of bastille in search of hoarded ammunition as it was the despotic power of king.
They destroyed the fort and sold it's small fragments in the market..
