The three factors that contribute to blood pressure are
- resistance,
- blood viscosity,
- and blood vessel diameter.
Blood pressure increases with increased cardiac output, peripheral vascular resistance, volume of blood, viscosity of blood and rigidity of vessel walls. Blood pressure decreases with decreased cardiac output, peripheral vascular resistance, volume of blood, viscosity of blood and elasticity of vessel walls.

Following are the factors affecting the blood pressure:-
- Obesity - People suffering from obesity have high blood pressure.
- Exercise - During physical activities like exercise the blood pressure gets increased during this time.
- In women blood pressure is low whereas in man blood pressure is high.
- During the state of excitement , and emotional situations either due to fear or some heriditary conditions ,the blood pressure gets increased.
- Blood pressure increases when there is contraction of arteries and blood cappilaries.
- When a person is in standing posture the blood pressure is high whereas in laying posture blood pressure is low .
