Economic Problems: The population of France also increased by 5 million between 1715-1789. Foodgrains were in great demand now. The price of bread shot up and the wages did not keep pace with the increasing prices. This led to a subsistence crisis.

Social Inequality: French society was divided into groups. In which one group was exempted from paying tax and the other two had to pay taxes. This created an excess burden on these groups and led to frustration towards the state among the citizens.
