Heya dear user !!!

Here is your answer,

================================

Fertilization :
The fusion of male gametes (sperm) and female gametes (ova) is called fertilization.

================================

How does fertilization take place?
Fertilization take place in the initial part of the oviduct. The sperm and the ovum fuse (male and female gametes fuse). This fusion of the sperm and egg is called fertilization. Since it takes place inside the body of the female, it is termed as internal fertilization. During this process, the nuclei of the sperm and egg also fuse to form a single nucleus. The resultant single cell formed after fertilization is also called a zygote. Thus, zygote contains nuclear part of the father (sperm nucleus) and of the mother (nucleus of egg). That is why, a child has some characteristic of the father and some characteristic of the mother.

Hope it helps.
