After pollination , the male gamates from anther gets transferred and fused with the female gamates inside the stigma which contains the ovary , forming a zygote , by developing an embryo [A TOUGH SHELL] is called as 'FERTILIZATION'

Fertilisation is the process when the male and female gametes fuse to form a zygote. After fertilisation, petals, stamen, stigma and style wither away. The ovary turns into fruit and ovules change to seeds. Sometimes, sepals wither away but in some plants, they stay attached to the fruit.
