the first information report is the written report of the crime registered with the police soon after the crime is discovered. Generally, it is a complaint locked with the police by the victim of some cognizable offence . the FIR usually mentions the date, time and other detail and basic fact about the offence including the description of the events. If known identity of the accused and witness are also mentioned. The FIR also States the name and address of the complaint. There is a perscribed form in which the police registers and FIR and it is signed by the complainant.
