. It is now constitutionally mandatory to hold elections atleast twice or thrice in a year.

Seats must be reserved for SC,ST and OBC.

At least 50 percentage of seas must be reserved in the executive bodies for women.

An independent institution called the state election commission has been formed by the government.

Now the state government are required to transfer there revenue to the local government...

images step towards decentralisation was taken in 1992. the constitution was amended to me the third tier of government more powerful and effective. the provisions made in the constitution for effective government are:

1. it is constitutionally mandatory to hold regular election in local government bodies.

2. seats are reserved in the elected bodies and the executive head in the institution for scheduled class(SCs), scheduled tribe (STs) and other backward classes (OBCs) beside women.

3. at least one third of all position are reserved for women.

4. the state election commission (SEC) has been created in each state to conduct Panchayat and Municipal Elections
