Flemming left hand's rule

When a current carring conductor is placed in a magnetic field a force acts on the confuctor in the direction which is perpendicular to the direction of current flowing and the magnetic field.

If you keep your left hand's fingers as shown in figure then according to the Flemming left hand's rule,

The middle finger points the direction of current flowing.

Thumb shows the direction of force acting on the conductor.

Uses of Flemming left hand's rule:

  • Electric motors
  • Printers
  • electric motors in fans and mixer, etc.

Fleming's left hand rule

Whenever a current carrying conductor is placed inside a magnetic field a foce acts on the conductor in the perpendicular direction.
