Traditional water harvesting system in some places were digging ponds and other water resources where rain water harvesting .Water harvesting technique is higly localised and differ from one place to another. In India the following water harvesting system were used.
Khadirs and Nadis in Rajastan
Bandharas and tals in Maharashtra
Budhiss in Madyapradesh and Uttarpradesh
Hors and pyras in Bihar
Kaltas in Karnataka
Surumgamas in Kerala
Kulhs in HimachalPradesh

Rainwater Harvesting➫ The technique used to store rainwater by making water harvesting structure to recharge the underground water resource.
♦ It is one of the methods that can be used for water conservation.
♦ It can be a paved area like the terrace or courtyard of a building.
