There are three forms of verbs used in different types of sentences.These are as follows :
1.Present Form of Verbs
♦It is used in the present tense(present sentences).It shows the work or action is going on/doing by the subject in the sentence.For example,go is the present form of verb which describes the present work or action.
Usage in sentence,
♦ I go to market.
Note:It can be used in future tense also by the help of helping verb with it.
2.Past Form of Verbs
♦It is used in the past tense(past sentences).It shows the work or action was going or was done by the subject in the sentence.For example,went is the past form of verb which describes the work or action done in past.
Usage in sentence,
♦I went to market.
3.Past Participle Form of Verbs
♦ it can be used in the past, present and future tense(sentences).As it can describe the work was done,is just done or will be done by the subject.For example,gone is the past participle form of verb.
Usage in sentence,
♦I have gone to market.
♦I was gone to market.
♦I will be gone from there.

Went is the past tense of go. Gone is the past participle of go. If you aren't sure whether to use gone or went, remember that gone always needs an auxiliary verb before it (has, have, had, is, am, are, was, were, be), but went doesn't. I could have gone to the store yesterday.
