Answer:

The standard deviation measure the spread of the data about the mean value.

For ex:-

The mean of the following two is the same- 15,15 ,15,14,16 nd 2,7,14,22,3o..

However, the 2nd is more clearly spread out..

Variance is calculated by the division of the summation of squares of these deviations by the observation numbers. Finally, we calculate the square root of the variance and arithmetic value is the standard deviation. Therefore, the formula of the standard deviation of continuous series is, √∑ni=1fi(xi−¯x)2/N.
