the four methods are:-
• galvanisation:-In this method zinc is used to protect iron from rusting. There is a coating of invisible layer of basic zinc carbonate (ZnCO3.Zn(OH)2) on the zinc film on iron .
• Using anti-rust solutions:- The solutions of alkaline phosphate and alkaline chromates are used as anti-rust solution. Due to alkaline nature of these solutions the H+ ions are removed from solution and rusting is prevented.
•electrical protection:- This method is used for protecting iron particles which are in contact with water such as underground water pipes.
