However, sexual violence on campuses in South Africa has been a long-standing issue. Similarly, there have been students actively challenging this violence from as early as the 1980s. This is reflected in De Klerk et al.’s (2007) “The habitus of the dominant”, which discusses sexual violence, and student activism in response to it, at Rhodes University over a 20-year period (1984 – 2004)
