Fragmentation is a process of reproduction seen in certain multicellular organisms which posses a simple body organisation, that is their body is not differentiated into complex organs or specialised tissues. They produce by splitting their body into several small pieces called fragments.

Fragmentation is most commonly seen in green filamentous alga- Spirogyra. It also occurs in mycelial fungi and thalloid bryophytes.
