Frequency pushing

The change in anode voltage which alters the orbital velocity of electron clouds causes frequency pushing in magnetrons.

Frequency pushing is expressed as Hz / V or Hz / mV

It can be a positive or a negative value.

The effect of frequency pulling can be minimized in two ways:

1. By using a high-Q resonator.

2. By regulating the power supply voltage properly.

Frequency pulling

Changes in the load impedance reflected into the cavity resonators causes frequency pulling in magnetrons.

Frequency pulling can be minimized by isolating the oscillator from the load.
