1.Pupil Opens and closes in order to regulate and control the amount of light
2.Iris Controls light level similar to the aperture of a camera
3.Sclera Protective outer coat
4.Cornea Thin membrane which provides 67% of the eye’s focusing power
5.Crystalline lens Helps to focus light into the retina
6.Conjunctiva Covers the outer surface (visible part) of the eye
7.Aqueous humour Provides power to the cornea
8.Vitreous humour Provides the eye its form and shape
9.Retina Captures the light rays focussed by the lens and sends impulses to the brain via optic nerve
10.Optic nerve Transmits electrical signals to the brain
11.Ciliary muscles Contracts and extends in order to change the lens shape for focusing.

Eye :

The eye is the organ of sight. We see with eyes. With the help of our eyes, optic, nerve, and brain we come to know about color and shapes around us.

Eyeball :

Our eye consists of an eyeball.

Eyelids :

The eye is covered with eyelids.

Eyelashes :

The row of hairs that grow out of the edge of the eyelids called Eyelashes.

Tear Glands :

Tear Glands also called eyelid glands. These glands also produce tears.

Main Parts of Eye :

  • Cornea.
  • Iris.
  • Pupil.
  • Lens.
  • Retina.
  • Optic nerve.

Cornea :

It is the first part of the eye. It allows light to enter the eye.

Iris :

It is the colored portion of the eye. It gives brown, black or Hazel colors to the eyes.

Lens :

It is a transparent piece of glass for focusing light. It becomes thin to see far objects. It becomes thick to see near objects.

Retina :

It is the light-sensitive portion of the eyeball. Eye lens form image on it.

Optic Nerve :

It receives light signals from retina and passes these signals to the Brain.

Fuctioning of Eye :
