Explain function of harversian system canal.

The haversian canals surround blood vessels and nerve cells throughout bones and communicate with bone cells (contained in spaces within the dense bone matrix called lacunae) through connections called canaliculi.

Harversian system :

✒ Harversian are seen in compact bones. It is also called as Oseton. In the centre it contains haversian Canal that runs parallel to the marrow cavity

✒ It contains an artery and vein and lymphatic vessel this is surrounded by the concentric lamellae

✒ This lamellae contain small fluid filled spaces called lacunae

✒ This lacunae are connected by contributing. Each lacuna encloses one bone cell called osteocyte.

✒ This Haversian canals are connected by one other and also connected by peritoneum and marrow cavity though volkmans canal

✒ Harversian canals help in supply of nutrients and gases to bone
