A Geostationary Satellite is orbiting the Earth at a high orbital velocity over the equator but which, at that altitude, matches the angular rotation speed of the Earth, i.e. one revolution per day. It therefore, to an observer on the ground, appears to be stationary over a point on the Earth.
Uses: Direct broadcast TV, Communication network, Defence and intelligence, global positioning or GPS - which is used for satellite navigation systems.
I hope it is helpful for you.
