Insulator – In an insulator, the gap between the valence band and the conduction band is very large
Conductor – In a conductor, current flows easily. There is very little or no gap between the valence band and the conductor band.
Semi-conductor – In a semiconductor, there is neither resistance to the flow of current, nor there is easy conductance
