explain giving reason the bending of root tip of a plant toward Earth

its because of geotropism.the shoots always grow upwards against the gravitational force offered by earth.

The tip of a root always bends towards the earth due to gravity.

  • Here, gravitational force of the earth acts as a stimulus for the plant.
  • This results in the bending of tip of roots of plants towards the earth.

This is known as geotropism.

Experiment for verification:

  1. Hang a plant from the ceiling as shown in figure 1.
  2. In a few days, you'll observe that the roots grow towards the earth and shoot grows away from the earth as shown in figure 2.
