Explain, giving reasons, whether the following sets of quantum numbers are possible or not.
i. n = 2, l = 1, ml= -1, ms= – ½
ii. n = 2, l = 1, ml= 0, ms= – ⅔
iii. n = 3, l = 2, ml= +3, ms = + ½

Answer:
1 and 2 are possible but 3 is not possible because,in '3',l=2 that means it is 'd' orbital.
For d orbital the ml values only lies between -2 to +2.
