Go east movement' was the popular movement in Vietnam in the 20th century. Vietnamese had close links with Japan and China and Japan at that time had developed itself and won over Russia. So thousands of the Vietnamese students visited Japan to get an education. and thus the movement became popular. The aim of the Vietnamese was more than just education they wanted to throw French out and to re-establish Nguyen dynasty that was overthrown by the French.
