The brass rod passes into a bell jar through a tightly-fitted rubber stopper. At the bottom of the brass rod are mounted two gold strips. These can be made of copper, brass or gold. The tin foil inside and the wooden base make the Electroscope more effective. Generally, this electroscope uses gold strips. Therefore, it is called gold leaf electroscope.
