Hamlet is a story written by William Shakespeare. The plot revolves around Hamlet Prince of Denmark who suspects his uncle for the murder of his father. However, he is not sure about that as he was told by someone that his father died due to snake bite. He suspected his uncle as well as mother Queen Getrude because not long after his father's death his mother married Claudius. He suspected her of supporting Claudius in the plan. Few days later, his best friend Horatio told him that the guards of soldiers in front of the castle had seen the ghost of his father, the Old Dead King. Hamlet decided to meet the ghost as he thought that the ghost want to tell him something about his father. He met the ghost who told him that he was murdered by Claudius. He told Hamlet to have his revenge on him (his uncle) but not to harm his mother. Hamlet was confused as he can't believe the ghost's story for one second but believes it in other second. He wanted to hide his real feelings from everyone so he pretended to be mad. King and Queen were astonished at his behaviour but didn't suspected that he know anything about them. They consulted Polonius, a wise man who told them that the reason for hamlet's madness is his love for his(Polonius) daughter Ophelia. Ophelia treated Hamlet coldly, as told by her father, for he thought that if she does so, he will love her more. King and Queen was satisfied with the answer and were also happy as they thought to arrange a marriage for Hamlet and Ophelia. Hamlet soon had a chance to find out the truth as some actors came to the castle and wanted to perform one of the plays before the court. Hamlet remembered that they had also came before and have shown a play named 'The Murder of Gonzago' which showed how a Duke named Gonzago was poisoned by his cousin in his garden and this cousin became the king and married the Duchess. This story was similar as told by the ghost. He requested the actors if they could perform the same Play again. On hearing that they could, Hamlet told them that they should play it next night it and he made a few changes in the play in order that it might be as like the real mother of his father as possible. He told Horatio of his plan and asked him to watch the play with him. He invited the King and Queen to watch this play and wanted to observe them closely. His suspicion was proved to be right as the king and the queen shouted in the middle of the play and left the court. The King now suspected Hamlet and asked Queen Getrude to talk to Hamlet to know whatever he knows. Hamlet was called by the queen. The queen had hidden Polonius behind the curtains in her room so that he should hear anything that Hamlet said. He remembered what his father had said so he decided not to kill his mother. He made her sit. She was frightened and shouted and asked if he would murder her. Polonius hidden behind the curtains also thought that Hamlet meant to kill his mother and being very frightened shouted for help. Hamlet misunderstood polonius to be claudius and killed him. he made his mother feel guilty and left her. meanwhile the king was determined to kill Hamlet and made a plan. he decided to send him out of the country. he planned to send him to English court and to have him murdered when he landed in England. he pretended Hamlet that he was sending him there on affairs of state for at this time England belong to Denmark. he sent two attendants who went with the prince, a letter to the king of England ordering him to put Hamlet to death as soon as he landed in England. But Hamlet for suspicious and read the letter in the ship and rubbing his own name am wrote the name of the two attendants with him and was successful in escaping. He returned Denmark only to know about Ophelia's suicide in the grief of her father. Her brother Laertes vowed to avenge his father and his sister's death. He saw Hamlet and attacked him but they both were stopped by people there. Laertes hired a conspiracy against Hamlet along with Claudius but eventually died himself. Hamlet's mother Gertrude also died drinking a poison, which was made for Hamlet by Claudius and Laertes. Hamlet had his revenge on the king but he too died. His last words for to Horatio telling him to live and tell his the whole story to the world.
