It is an old saying that a healthy mind resides inside a healthy body. This statement has two components; mind and body. It says that if your mind is a temple of purity and calmness than your body is clean and pure as well.  

How you think and what you think ultimately affects your body and what you eat and how much you eat effects your mind heath as well.

Both of these factors are inter-related.  So, one should opt for serenity and pureness to keep both body and mind healthy.
