Explanation for how a bacterium and a human being satisfy the postulates of the cell theory is described below:

Explanation:

  • The first postulate of cell theory states that all living organisms are made of a cell or cells. Bacteria is made up of single cell whereas humans are made up of multiple cells.

  • The second postulate of the cell theory is that cell is the basic unit of life. A bacteria is made up of a single cell which functions to keep it alive. A human is made up of different cells which function together to keep a human alive. Hence, the first postulate is satisfied.

  • The third postulate of cell theory states that new cells arise from existing cells. In bacteria, the existing cell divides o form two new daughter cells satisfies this postulate. In humans, the somatic cells also divide by mitotic cell division to give rise to new cells.
