The metabolic activities in a cell such as respiration, biochemical reactions are one of the major factors resulting in it being a system because all the organelles have a specific function. A group of cells with similar properties and functions come together to make a tissues of all variety. Different tissues with different function make an organ, and then an organ system, as a whole a whole other system is created with the cell as the unit.
