Patwari is a part of Revenue collection System in India. He is the lowest functionary in the State Revenue Department System. He is a Land Record Officer at Tehsil (District) level. His main functions are to maintain record of land, crops grown and preparing statistical data, recording entries and collecting revenue. He works under the supervision of tehsildar and report to him. The tehsildar preside over the matter related to land, tax and revenue and are given certain judicial powers. The district collector supervises the overall functioning of the district.
