Agricultural wastes have two components

first is nutritive and second is toxic

the fertilizers used contain useful nutrients, when they are discharged into water , they help in growth of algae , these algae use the oxygen and don't allow it to be used by fish, its know as eutrophication

the toxic materials enter body of fishes harming them , when humans eat the fish, the toxins enter into their body and cause diseases
