The Soviet Union enforced the collectivization (Russian: Коллективизация) of its agricultural sector between 1928 and 1940 during the ascendancy of Joseph. In 1935, the ration system in the cities was abolished. However, forced collectivization nearly destroyed Soviet agriculture, and it took years to restore it .

- To meet the demand for export needs , Collectivisation was started.
- Farms were collectives to run them along industrial lines for commercial hain production.

- By 1929, Stalin's workers forced peasants to cultivate in collective farms. Profit would be shared equally by all.
- A bulk of land and other agricultural implements were transformer to the ownership of these newly collectivated lands.
- Land and other agricultural means were taken from the Kulaks and distributed among the society.
- A number of medium and large farmers opposed Collectivisation. Stalin's government allowed some independent cultivation but heavy taxes were imposed on them.
- Initially the farmers were given a choice to join our not to join, bir latest it became compulsory.
