The vascular tissue for the transport of food to the various parts of the plant is phloem. A lot of water is lost by plants in the form of vapour through stomata during transpiration. Transpiration generates a force which pulls up water absorbed by the roots from the soil, to reach the stem and leaves.

What is the process of the transportation of water and minerals in plants? Plants have two systems for the transportation of substances - using two different types of transport tissue. Xylem transports water and solutes from the roots to the leaves, while phloem transports food from the leaves to the rest of the plant.
