Bohr circumvented the problem with Rutherford's Atomic Model by proposing that electrons “jump” between orbits when they gain or lose energy. Thus, they do not exist in a state in-between the orbits. Negatively charged electrons orbit a positively charged nucleus in orbits with set energy levels

Answer:

The gold-foil experiment showed that the atom consists of a small, massive, positively charged nucleus with the negatively charged electrons being at a great distance from the centre. ... In Bohr's model the orbits of the electrons were explained by quantum mechanics.
