Breaking Of Glass : Physical Change

Explanation : Breaking of glass only causes a change in the shape and size of the glass , not the chemical properties of glass .

For instance , the glass before it's broken ,is transparent . And the broken glass is also transparent .

Therefore , there is no change in the medium of the object .

Therefore it is a PHYSICAL CHANGE .

Making Salt Solution : Physical Change

Explanation : The Salt not the water does not go through any chemical process to become Salt Solution , often called brine .

The salt just DISSOLVES into the water . But it doesn't mean the salt has disappeared.

For Example , the salt is salty in nature . And when combined or DISSOLVED in water , it makes the water SALTY and therefore exhibits its chemical properties . Hence , no chemical change has taken place in this process.

Chalk Stick Turning into Chalk Powder : When a chalk stick is broken into pieces and made into a powdery substance , its size and shape definitely changed , but its properties did not ..

For example , when a yellow chalk piece is made into a powder , its shape and size changed , but it's still yellow in color . Hence , no chemical change has taken place .
